The Cardiac Sonographer (Echo) I operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and/or cardiac procedures. This role involves reviewing patient medical records, obtaining clinical information, and ensuring exam accuracy. The sonographer positions patients, selects appropriate equipment, and adjusts technical factors for optimal imaging while ensuring patient safety and comfort. They use cognitive skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures based on diagnostic information and images, accurately labeling all images. The position requires maintaining records, entering patient data into the radiology information system, and documenting billing codes. Additionally, the sonographer identifies and reports equipment issues, evaluates new products, and analyzes sonograms to communicate findings to physicians. This role also involves serving as a technical resource and preceptor for students and staff, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and demonstrating knowledge of age-specific patient care.
