About The Position

This is a part-time, as-needed student position for the Echocardiography department at Carolinas Medical Center - Sanger Heart & Vascular. The role involves performing basic echocardiograms under supervision, assisting patients, preparing them for exams, and ensuring their safety. The associate will also obtain supplies for procedures, assist physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms, stock rooms, prepare preliminary reports, retrieve requisitions, assist patients with personal care needs, and help with administrative duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Enrollment in cardiac ultrasound training program required.
• Successful completion of cardiac ultrasound training program required within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

• Venipuncture experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs basic echocardiograms supervised by an echocardiography technologist.
• Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures.
• Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the echocardiography technologist.
• Obtains supplies for agitated saline and ultrasound enhancing agents as directed for administration by a certified technologist or registered nurse.
• Assists physician in the performance of diagnostic transesophageal echocardiogram procedures.
• Stock procedure rooms and carts with linens and supplies.
• Prepares preliminary report for Echocardiography Technician to review.
• Retrieves requisitions and delivers to designated areas.
• Assists patients to restrooms or with bedpans and urinals as needed.
• Assists with administrative duties
