About The Position

Charlotte Radiology is seeking a Cardiac CT RN to monitor patients throughout Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) examinations. This role involves reviewing patient medical history, identifying potential contraindications, establishing IV access, administering medications to optimize heart rate, and monitoring patients before, during, and after the examination. The nurse will assess and respond to medical distress, maintain accurate documentation, manage emergency equipment, and collaborate with CT technologists for efficient patient flow and safety. Responsibilities include pre-exam patient contact, IV insertion, medication administration, blood pressure monitoring, and administering nitroglycerin during scans.

Requirements

Associate degree/college-level nursing education
RN qualification
BLS and ACLS
Ability to assess medical records for issues that could interfere with the imaging procedure
Strong documentation and computer skills
Good communication skills
Ability to stand/walk for extended periods
Ability to lift approximately 50–75 pounds.

3–5 years of radiology and cardiac experience preferred

Responsibilities

Monitor patients throughout Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) examinations.
Review the patient's medical history and identify conditions or medications that could affect the cardiac CT.
Establish IV access or access an implanted port for contrast administration and laboratory testing.
Administer medications under physician direction, including medications used to optimize heart rate for CCTA.
Monitor blood pressure and the patient's clinical status before, during, and after the examination.
Assess and respond to patients experiencing medical distress or adverse reactions.
Maintain accurate documentation of the patient's history, medications, procedures, and nursing care in the medical record and Charlotte Radiology's RIS.
Maintain emergency equipment and medications, including controlled-substance inventory.
Follow sterile technique and applicable clinical and organizational policies.
Work closely with the CT technologist to maintain efficient patient flow and a safe examination environment.
Contact patients before the exam, review instructions/medications, start the high-flow IV needed for contrast, administer medication when needed to lower the heart rate, monitor blood pressure, and give sublingual nitroglycerin during the scan.
