About The Position

Performs continuous observation, interpretation, and communication of cardiac rhythms for cardiology patients under the supervision of the RN. This role involves continuous assessment of ECG rhythm at a central monitor and during patient transport, identifying changes, and responding or reporting to the RN as appropriate. The technician is also responsible for cleaning and maintaining telemetry monitors/holders, accounting for monitors upon patient discharge, and ensuring alarms are set at appropriate levels. Additional duties may include video monitoring, order entry, and answering phones.

Requirements

• Minimum High school diploma or GED; or 1 to 3 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic cardiac dysrhythmia training or successful completion of a cardiac dysrhythmia training course upon hire.
• CPR – American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

• Preferred EMS, CMA diploma/training/experience.

Responsibilities

• Accurately analyzes, interprets and records ECG rhythms according to procedure.
• Maintains continuous assessment of ECG rhythm at central monitor and during patient transport.
• Identifies changes and responds or reports to the RN as appropriate.
• Cleans and maintains the telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge.
• Demonstrates knowledge of central station and bedside monitors.
• Ensures alarms are maintained at appropriate levels and settings.
• Performs other unit specific duties such as video monitoring, order entry and answering phones.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
