About The Position

Sovah Health in Danville is seeking a full-time Monitor Technician, under the supervision of an RN, to perform telemetry monitoring by continually surveilling multiple monitors and operating the patient-monitoring computer. This role involves obtaining patient information for telemetry records, measuring, recording, and interpreting heart rhythms, identifying abnormalities, recognizing changes in heart rhythms and relaying information to a nurse or physician, identifying significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervening appropriately, and testing equipment for proper working order and reporting any equipment problems to the supervisor.

Requires a full range of motion, including handling and lifting patients and/or equipment, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
May require frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to the normal range.
Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.
Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Requires flexibility in scheduling with the ability to work all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays, to ensure continuity of care and nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR required within 8 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

Obtain patient information for the telemetry records, such as heart rhythm history.
Measures, records, and interprets heart rhythms and identifies abnormalities.
