As our Cardiac Monitor Specialist, you will serve as a critical guardian of patient safety, directly impacting the well-being of individuals by providing continuous observation of cardiac rhythms. Your expertise will be vital in identifying and reporting significant ECG patterns, ensuring timely intervention by nursing personnel. Every day you will include providing continuous observation of monitored ECG patterns for all patients on telemetry. This encompasses meticulously monitoring within a designated area, maintaining close vigilance over patient cardiac activity. You will be responsible for promptly responding to all detected alarms, accurately assessing the significance of ECG changes, and reporting critical information to appropriate nursing personnel. Your role requires effective collaboration with a diverse care team, and you will consistently adhere to all policies and procedures of the department and organization, ensuring the highest standards of patient monitoring and care. Requirements

  • High School Graduate, upon hire or High School GED, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Providing continuous observation of monitored ECG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered.
  • Setting up, calibrating, and maintaining settings and alarms on the telemetry module.
  • Obtaining rhythm strip at the beginning of the shift, on admission, and whenever changes occur.
  • Recognizing changes in rate, rhythm, or pattern and obtaining a documentary ECG strip.
  • Immediately reporting all arrhythmias to the care team responsible for the patient in accordance with established protocols.
  • Handling incoming and outgoing communications, answering questions, and assisting staff in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of the technical operation and capabilities of the central monitoring station.
  • Maintaining alarm systems according to established protocols and responding appropriately to monitor alarms.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting routine technical problems with the monitors and sending work orders.
