About The Position

National Jewish Health is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cardiac Device Specialist to join the Cardiology team. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of cardiac rhythm management, serving as a clinical expert in the interrogation, analysis and programming of pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) and other cardiac devices. As part of a growing cardiology program, the Cardiac Device Specialist plays a vital role in delivering advanced electrophysiology and cardiac rhythm management services. Position Summary Responsible and accountable for accurate and timely cardiac rhythm device interrogation and re-programming, including device analysis, preliminary report generation, alerting providers to urgent issues, and maintaining an accurate patient tracking system. This position practices within the standards set by the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC). This position works within interdisciplinary teams to provide safe and personalized care for the patient.

Requirements

Minimum of three (3) years experience in an electrophysiology setting such as an electrophysiology lab, experience analyzing and reprogramming cardiac pacemakers and internal cardiac defibrillators, or current Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Elecrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification.
BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

Performs cardiac device interrogations, analysis and reprogramming with minimal provider supervision
Identifies and escalates urgent device issues while supporting timely clinical decision-making
Educates patients on device management, remote monitoring and follow-up care
Collaborates with electrophysiologists and cardiology providers to optimize patient outcomes
Coordinates device clinic follow-up, patient tracking and remote monitoring programs
Interrogates, interprets, and re-programs devices with minimal provider supervision.
Ensures charges are accurately captured for device interrogation.
Troubleshoots critical device issues and takes immediate steps for resolution.
Performs evaluation and re-dressing of new device bandages/wounds as needed.
Collaborates with providers regarding device status and accurately documents device analysis in the electronic medical record.
Educates patients on all aspects of their device, including remote monitoring and follow-up protocols.
Keeps equipment in good working condition and notify appropriate personnel of any problem areas or safety issues.
Serves as a resource to physicians and other employees for patients receiving device therapy.
Oversees scheduling of patient follow-up visits to ensure all patients are correctly scheduled for remote monitoring and follow-up visits.
Monitors tracking system for no-show patients.
Connects with local device companies to ensure updates to systems, procedures, protocols and ongoing education.
Ensures recall procedures are followed and documented when needed.
Responds to urgent device issues in procedural units and assists in all cardiac testing procedures such as echocardiography, stress testing, ECG as needed.
Participates in professional development activities.
