About The Position

Operates cardiac cath and auxiliary equipment, processes images, and maintains and cleans equipment. Maintains required documentation. Prepares patients for exams by relieving anxiety and explaining procedures in layman's terms. Ensures consent forms are obtained. Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards and procedures, positioning patients and adjusting equipment for correct exposure. Monitors patient condition, recognizing and reporting abnormalities or reactions to the Radiologist. Keys in patient history data and operates equipment for image transfer and archival. Processes and maintains exposed images, labels films, and ensures proper marking. Enters exams onto daily logs and completes tracking steps. Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program, required.
  • New York State and/or Connecticut Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience performing radiologic exams, required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for exam, relieves anxiety, and obtains consent forms.
  • Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards and procedures.
  • Positions patient for radiographs and arranges immobilization devices.
  • Adjusts x-ray equipment and operates controls to obtain correct exposure.
  • Monitors patient’s condition in accordance with technical and safety standards.
  • Recognizes and promptly reports patient’s motor abnormalities, including fainting, discoloration, and contrast reactions to the Radiologist.
  • Keys in Patient history data and other pertinent information.
  • Monitors patient’s condition during the procedure.
  • Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival of disc memory to tape.
  • Processes and maintains exposed images.
  • Labels film for identification and maintains required records.
  • Utilizes film markers and ensures images are properly marked as the “right” or “left” side.
  • Ensures images are legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification.
  • Enters the exam onto the daily log sheet as needed.
  • Properly completes the correct tracking steps for each examination.
  • Performs related duties, as required.
