About The Position

The Cardiac Rehab RN position is a part-time role requiring 26 hours per week, specifically on Mondays (10 hours), Wednesdays (10 hours), and Fridays (6 hours). The primary purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality patient care, adhering to all established standards of care and ensuring a safe environment for individuals with known or potential risks for developing cardiac disease. This role involves routine decision-making regarding patient evaluation, including physical changes, vital signs, weight gain, and exercise tolerance. The RN will also monitor the cardiac monitor for changes and assess the readiness of new participants for the Cardiac Rehab program. While there is no formal supervisory responsibility, the position is formally responsible for providing input into policies related to its purpose and essential responsibilities. The role involves a risk of blood and body fluid contamination and requires age-specific competencies for adult (18-64 years) and geriatric (65+ years) patients.

Requirements

  • Two to four-year RN degree
  • Currently licensed in the state of Missouri
  • ACLS/BLS required
  • Recognition of life-threatening cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Cardiac disease knowledge (normal and abnormal findings and treatments)
  • Knowledge of exercise prescription for various disease and physical restrictions
  • Knowledge of education material to share with public and participants
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements
  • Knowledge of the Telemetry Monitoring System’s information and procedure
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment
  • Knowledge of use of ACLS equipment
  • Ability to use telemetry monitoring system
  • Understanding of and ability to instruct patients in use of general office equipment including treadmills, stationary bicycles, Nu-step, Arm Ergometer, Portable 02, glucometers, free weights and other prescribed gym equipment
  • Interacts professionally and enthusiastically with patients and family members

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality patient care following all standards of care.
  • Maintain a safe environment for individuals with cardiac disease or risk factors.
  • Evaluate physical changes, vital signs, and weight gain requiring follow-up care or treatment.
  • Evaluate patients' tolerance and the need to advance or decrease exercise METS.
  • Evaluate cardiac monitor for changes.
  • Evaluate new potential participants' level of readiness to enter the Cardiac Rehab program.
  • Provide input into policies associated with the job’s purpose and essential responsibilities.
