About The Position

The Carbon Capture & Sustainability Project Manager role is responsible for the development and implementation of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) initiatives, as well as other sustainability-related capital projects for VCNA’s cement plants. This role requires technical and overall project management expertise to deliver technically sound, economically feasible, and risk-balanced projects from pre-FEED development through final investment decision (FID) and execution. The position demands process engineering proficiency, excellent project management, organizational, and leadership skills, and will contribute to achieving VC’s decarbonization targets and developing a new CO2 economy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Strong safety focus.
  • 7-10 years of experience managing capital projects in industrial or manufacturing settings (cement or heavy industry preferred).
  • Experience in preparing, managing, executing, monitoring, and reporting on scopes of work that include technical, financial, commercial, legal, and environmental teams and information.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or other project management certification.
  • Management of project organization consisting of various engineering disciplines and various internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Skills in engineering work, project management, planning and control methods.
  • Familiar with the industrial processes, engineering standards, and equipment used in carbon capture installations (fans, pumps, fluid mechanics, process engineering).
  • Valid G Driver’s license is a must.
  • Valid Passport is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe workplace and strive for zero occupational injuries, accidents, and environmental incidences.
  • Evaluate different carbon capture technologies, suppliers, and implementation strategies for VCNA’s cement plants, considering specific plant and technology conditions.
  • Evaluate CO2 utilization and storage options for the development of various projects, from pilots to industrial-scale projects.
  • Participate in technical discussions with potential companies interested in VCNA’s CO2 projects, covering utilization, storage, and transportation.
  • Lead feasibility studies, scope development, and budgeting for cement plant capital projects, defining scope and strategy in conjunction with involved parties.
  • In conjunction with Procurement, manage commercial and contract management aspects of projects, including RFPs, contract negotiations, contract disputes, and performance guarantees.
  • Oversee engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including technical concept and scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial targets, and manage expenditures, approve invoices, and maintain accurate financial reporting.
  • Establish work plans and staffing for each phase of projects and assign project tasks, conferring with project staff to outline work plans and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Collaborate with other areas such as engineering, operations, legal, and procurement, as well as external contractors.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Ensure clear communication and alignment across all project stakeholders.
  • Ensure all projects comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct technical reviews and quality checks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure equipment and construction meet performance and reliability standards.
