About The Position

Sonic Electronix is seeking an experienced car audio installer to transition into product development. This role involves testing and improving car audio products, moving away from daily customer installations to a product testing and development focus. While occasional vehicle installations may be required, the primary function is product evaluation and feedback. The position offers an opportunity to leverage hands-on installation knowledge in a new capacity, contributing to product improvement and development within the car audio industry. No engineering degree or prior product development experience is necessary, but a strong understanding of car audio installation, troubleshooting, and a willingness to learn product development procedures are essential.

Requirements

  • Experience installing amplifiers, speakers, subwoofers, radios, or similar 12-volt products.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle wiring and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use common installation tools and a digital multimeter.
  • Interest in car audio, fabrication, vehicle electronics, and new-product development.
  • Ability to clearly explain installation or product problems.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new programs.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work with a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of hands-on car-audio or automotive electronics installation experience preferred.
  • Experience with DSP tuning, custom fabrication, oscilloscopes, RTA equipment, Audio Precision testing, vehicle integration, or MECP certification is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Test car-audio products on a workbench and in vehicles.
  • Install amplifiers, speakers, subwoofers, DSPs, radios, cameras, and related accessories.
  • Identify product problems and recommend practical improvements.
  • Evaluate sound quality, performance, fitment, installation difficulty, and included accessories.
  • Build and test prototype audio systems.
  • Troubleshoot wiring, noise, compatibility, and performance problems.
  • Provide feedback based on real-world installation experience.
  • Help create installation instructions, troubleshooting guides, and product information.
  • Answer occasional technical questions from customer-service and product teams.
  • Verify vehicle fitment and product compatibility information.
  • Work with the product-development, engineering, customer-service, and marketing teams.
  • Learn additional product-testing and development procedures on the job.
