About The Position

Under general direction of the Chief Developmental Test Pilot, act as the project pilot for new and existing product development projects. This role provides the Flight Operations and Test interface to Major Programs and Innovation, Engineering and Flight Test in the development of new technology for new and existing airplanes. The Captain Developmental Test Pilot will develop or improve aircraft aircrew publications, pursue Gulfstream ODA AR Flight Test Pilot authorizations, and serve in assistant staff or aircrew publications roles. As project test pilot, they will conduct developmental, engineering, and experimental test flights in support of new and ongoing flight test projects. Responsibilities include debriefing engineering and supplier personnel on test results, reporting findings in written Flight Test Reports, and discussing problem areas with engineers to assist in design or redesign of equipment. The role also involves conducting engineering meetings to assess program progress, representing GAC in meetings with FAA and EASA representatives for new technology certification, and reviewing/critiquing developmental and certification test plans. The pilot will conduct test flights consistent with test plans, assist in completing test reports to demonstrate compliance, and expand flight test technique qualifications. Additionally, they will provide interface with Engineering, Marketing, and Technical Operations for a smooth transition from certification to Entry-Into-Service, and provide presentations, interface, and instruction to company and customer flight crews on new aircraft products and systems. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering or technically related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 10 years progressively responsible experience in flight operations and flight test to include at least three (3) years progressively responsible management and/or supervisory experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Gulfstream Type Rating Required
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot license (ATP/ATPL) or ability to attain ATP/ATPL.
  • FAA Aircraft Multi-Engine land (AMEL) license, will appropriate Type Rating(s).
  • Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School or Significant Equivalent Experience in Experimental Flight Test.
  • FAA Class I Medical required.
  • Effective verbal and written skills required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Report these results and observations in a concise, written Flight Test Report on a timely basis for distribution to the highest levels in management and engineering departments.
  • Discuss problem areas with both GAC and supplier engineers to assist them in design or redesign of equipment being tested.
  • Conduct engineering meetings to assess progress of new and ongoing programs involving the issues involved to bring the new technology to the appropriate level for certification.
  • Represent GAC in meetings with FAA and EASA representatives in all matter regarding the certification of the new technology.
  • Review and critique developmental and certification test plans to assure that the means of compliance for certification are assured and met.
  • Conduct test flights in a manner consistent with the test plans and assure success for the program.
  • Assist in the completion of the test reports to assure that the required test points demonstrate compliance with the regulations.
  • Expand flight test technique qualifications in as many low and medium risk flight test techniques as possible.
  • Provide interface with Engineering, Marketing and Technical Operations to ensure a smooth transition from certification to Entry-Into-Service for all new products.
  • Provide presentations, interface and ground and flight instruction to company and customer flight crews on operations of new aircraft products, new installed systems, and new or upgraded appliances.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
