About The Position

The General Services Division is seeking an energetic, service-oriented individual to join their custodial team that is responsible for cleaning the Capitol building and a few other small buildings. You would perform a variety of tasks such as cleaning floors and restrooms, washing walls and glass, removing rubbish, performing routine upkeep activities, event set-up and clean-up and notifying management when repairs are needed. You would respond to emergencies involving the clean-up of potential biohazards and food/beverage spills. The Capitol building is a historic treasure containing ornate art and classical architecture which requires unique techniques and strategies for cleaning and maintenance. You would be responsible for ensuring proper cleaning methods and techniques are followed and used for a variety of situations and applications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Ability to operate cleaning machinery, equipment, tools and utilize all custodial supplies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people, and establish and effective working relationships with team members and customers
  • Ability to handle chemical cleaning agents in a prescribed and safe manner
  • Ability to maintain a positive and pleasant attitude
  • Capable of performing successfully in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to operate a computer to perform data entry such as timekeeping and e-mail
  • Recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions
  • Attention to detail in work processes and equipment operations
  • Self-motivated, able to take on work as assigned or as required by a given circumstance
  • Ability to drive in all Montana weather conditions
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
