About The Position

The Capital Projects Manager, Facilities Design & Construction, will be responsible for overseeing capital projects within the facilities design and construction domain. This role requires a strong understanding of building codes, project management software, and regulatory requirements. The position involves managing multiple priorities, working independently, and adapting to a flexible work schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends to support University operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Technology, Drafting Technology, Construction Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of New York State Building Code, Fire Code, Energy Code, Accessibility Requirements (ADA), and applicable construction regulations.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2026, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and related project management software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction project management experience involving occupied institutional facilities.
  • Experience with construction estimating and budget management.
  • Experience filing construction permits and coordinating regulatory approvals.
  • Experience coordinating third-party testing and special inspections.
  • Knowledge of furniture procurement and installation for institutional projects.
  • Experience with construction project scheduling software.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), GIS, and electronic document management systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and LEED principles.
