About The Position

The Capital Projects Manager (CPM) provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for transmission line and substation projects across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi. This role focuses on delivering projects with cost, scope, and schedule certainty, emphasizing high-quality results and transparency throughout the project lifecycle. The CPM leads a team of jurisdictional and contract support experts in the execution of the capital program, including project planning, organization, execution, and oversight of all projects within the Transmission portfolio. The position is accountable for monitoring and coordinating site-based construction activities performed by contractors, vendors, and employees, and provides direct management and support to project team members throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with approved standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field OR 4 years of equivalent/related work experience (in addition to Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of degree.
  • 10 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field.
  • Subject Matter Expert in project and construction management fundamentals and complicated project problem resolutions.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to transmission lines and substations.
  • History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management applications, processes, software and equipment.
  • Understanding of Industry Best Practices.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership experience, team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.
  • Knowledge of Effective Estimating Practices.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementation and monitoring of company and contractor safety initiatives affecting the execution of transmission line & substation construction projects.
  • Works with Construction Leadership in managing the portfolio budget, including individual project execution and annual transmission capital plan performance.
  • Provides the primary interface with the contractor's senior site representative, fostering open communication and cooperation.
  • Coordinates with all functional departments to achieve requirements of corporate standards and guidelines.
  • Provides leadership and direction to ensure assigned project portfolio is executed in accordance with company, business unit, and work group practices, processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and executes the project in adherence to this plan.
  • Negotiates & manages contract execution, ensuring safety performance, quality of work scope, cost, and schedule attainment of contractors meet or exceed expectations.
  • Ensures each contractor is constructing the project in accordance with drawings, specifications, and contract agreement specifics.
  • Monitors construction progress and initiates discussions on recovery actions as needed.
  • Reviews Daily Reports submitted by Contractor and verifies completion of field work prior to approving invoices for payment.
  • Delivers projects with cost and schedule certainty; manages and controls costs; manages risk through identification and mitigation of risks.
  • Manages portfolio status reporting; interfaces with management of all stakeholders to achieve intended results.
  • Represents portfolio in internal leadership meetings, external regulatory hearings, customer meetings, and prepares written testimony as appropriate.
  • Identifies, communicates, and takes prompt action when project issues arise that could impact project performance, including appropriate and timely escalation to Construction Leadership when project milestones may be challenged.
  • Responsibilities span Entergy's entire system and require flexibility to work in diverse settings across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
