About The Position

The Capital Markets business at CIBC aims to be the premier client-focused Capital Markets entity in Canada. It offers a wide array of credit, capital markets, investment banking, merchant banking, and research products and services to government, institutional, corporate, and retail clients in Canada and key international markets. As a Co-op Analyst for Regulatory Management, you will report to the Director of the Capital Markets Regulatory Trade Reporting Group. Your primary accountability will be the implementation of global regulatory trade reporting projects and initiatives. CIBC supports an optimal work environment, offering a hybrid work arrangement where you will spend 1-3 days per week on-site and the remaining days remotely.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education and returning to full-time studies.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel knowledge, specifically for reconciling datasets from different sources.
  • Strong communication skills for dealing with back office, investigations officers, traders, marketers, and middle office regarding trade bookings and amendments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including good teamwork and relationship building.
  • Curiosity and openness to learning and relearning.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to real-life situations.
  • Maintain compliance with all CIBC regulatory training.
  • Personal responsibility for compliance with all regulatory and governance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation plans based on the interpretation of regulatory trade reporting requirements, collaborating with Technology for system integration.
  • Define business requirements and test cases, including the review, approval, and support of end-to-end test case execution.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of internal procedures and controls for trade reporting, working with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with partner groups on trade data quality and trade reporting inquiries to create efficiencies across teams.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders (Technology, Compliance, Operations, Client Data Management, FO/Trade Control) to operationalize regulatory reporting processes.
  • Act as a liaison between Business, Technology, Compliance, Regulatory Reporting Operations, and other stakeholders to drive the delivery of trade regulatory reporting projects.
  • Participate actively in trade regulatory project meetings and provide status and issue reports to Senior Management as required.
  • Liaise with individuals across various Lines of Business at different levels to gather and validate information, document and test controls, and monitor government and control program activities.
