About The Position

The Capital Markets Associate (“CMA”) is an integral member of Henderson’s Finance & Transactional teams. The individual will be trusted with assisting the CFO raise and manage private equity through either a discretionary fund or through internal syndication, interfacing with Henderson Investors, preparing offering memorandums on potential acquisitions, ensuring the investor software platform is properly maintained and assisting the CFO with structured financing initiatives. The private placement process uniquely develops both the quantitative and qualitative skills required at more advanced levels across the financial spectrum. The CMA will report to and work closely with Darren J. Caterino, the Executive Vice President / Chief Investment & Financial Officer (EVP|CFO & CIO).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of commercial real estate with exposure to private placements, investment banking, alternative asset investor relations or similar fields
  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or real estate and a strong academic record required.
  • Experience preparing detailed financial models and calculating preferred returns, investor promotes and cashflow waterfalls using appropriate valuation methodologies.
  • Preparing investment committee materials for the presentation of various investment opportunities
  • Preparing investment memos, term sheets, and letters of intent
  • Presenting investment opportunities/findings
  • Strong technical, analytical, financial modeling and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in working independently in a small, entrepreneurial team.
  • A holistic approach to the role, adding value to the overall company and not solely the capital markets function. A willingness to learn and grow through a deeper knowledge and understanding of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain external Henderson investor materials, including marketing/pitch materials, fund offering booklets and executive presentations for the senior management team.
  • Working directly with transaction team in drafting offering memorandums and marketing materials, coordinating all roadshow scheduling and logistics, preparing for and coordinating all due diligence meetings
  • Create and maintain deal flow database by identifying potential targets and preparing company specific due diligence reports and analyses.
  • Building investor relationships, responding to investor inquiries and other ad-hoc requests
  • Construction and maintenance of fund models for financial and capital metrics including discounted cashflows, investment projections and returns, sensitivities, joint venture waterfalls and ongoing portfolio management.
  • Performing special projects and ad-hoc business case analyses determined by the needs of CFO and/or Senior Management.
  • Maintain accuracy of investor portal software and the information imported from accounting platform.
  • Coordinate the execution of investment transactions across all parties involved (i.e. due diligence providers, counsel, investors, portfolio company management, etc.)
  • Perform business, financial, and operational analysis across portfolio companies to help influence senior management decision-making
