This is a full-time position with Project Farma, a PerkinElmer Company. The successful candidate will be located in one of Project Farma's primary market locations, and be willing to travel as needed for project requirements. The Manager / Senior Manager, Capital Project Construction will lead the successful planning and execution of large-scale capital projects in life sciences and advanced manufacturing sectors, including greenfield developments and retrofit initiatives. With a focus on projects valued at $100M–$200M, this role is responsible for overseeing all phases of project delivery – from initial planning and design, through construction, commissioning, startup and transition to operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in regulated environments, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The position represents the client’s interests, leads integrated delivery teams, and ensures project success across schedule, cost, scope, quality, and safety. They will report directly to the Market Director and/or Regional Vice President, with an indirect reporting line to the VP, Project Management to ensure alignment with firm-wide project management standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Alternatively, equivalent significant experience leading and managing large capital projects.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of capital project experience, with preferably 3 years as a project lead on efforts >$100M TIC.
  • Strong understanding of life sciences capital delivery, including CQV, GEP, and operational readiness.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Willing to travel as necessary for business continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional project teams across engineering, construction, CQV, and startup workstreams.
  • Develop and manage project execution plans, governance models, and project controls structures.
  • Act as the owner’s representative and primary point of contact for client leadership.
  • Manage scope, budget, schedule, and risk across all project phases.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders, EPC/EPCM partners, and vendors to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for executive leadership and client stakeholders.
  • Oversee feasibility studies, site selection, permitting, and conceptual design.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment with OSHA, GMP, FDA, ISO and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project managers, engineers, and support staff.
  • Support change management and escalation processes with RVP and VP, Project Management as needed.
  • Lead with presence; depending on project location and phase, significant travel may be required.
  • Oversee architectural, engineering, and construction vendors and their activities for greenfield and retrofit projects.
  • Ensure constructability, scalability, and sustainability are integrated into design and execution.
  • Monitor construction progress, quality control, and safety compliance.
  • Lead commissioning and qualification (C&Q) efforts in collaboration with validation and quality teams.
  • Plan for and coordinate startup activities and ensure seamless handover to operations.
  • Support operational readiness, including training, SOP development, and performance testing.
  • Develop and manage capital budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts with design firms, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and financial governance.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication across all project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present project updates, dashboards, and executive reports.
  • Manage change control and decision-making processes effectively
