About The Position

Serving Loudoun since 1984 · Free · Confidential · Trauma-informed · Survivor-centered For more than 40 years, LAWS has been where Loudoun County turns when domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, or child abuse shatters a life. It began in 1984 with three local women, $3,000, and immeasurable determination; a year later, they opened the county's first - and still only - emergency shelter for survivors fleeing domestic violence. Today, LAWS is the County's designated provider of free, confidential services for survivors: a 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelter, on-staff attorneys providing free legal representation (the only domestic violence and sexual assault nonprofit in Virginia to do so), trauma therapy for children and adults, hospital accompaniment, bilingual services, prevention education, and the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center. LAWS also holds the county's response together - coordinating the Domestic Abuse Response Team, co-leading the Sexual Assault Response Team, and convening the child-abuse Multidisciplinary Team - so help arrives coordinated rather than fragmented. The need has never been greater. In fiscal year 2025 alone, LAWS answered 1,256 crisis calls - 162 of them flagged as potential homicide risks - and provided 4,291 nights of safe shelter to 178 people, more than half of them children. Its advocates logged 5,224 hours alongside 707 survivors; its attorneys secured 36 protective orders; and its Child Advocacy Center conducted 197 forensic interviews for children. Since 2019, survivors report abuse that is dramatically more dangerous - weapons used or threatened up 77 percent, and homelessness caused by domestic violence up 161 percent. Through all of it, LAWS never turns a survivor away and stewards its resources so carefully that 73 cents of every dollar goes straight to services - earning it 2025 Best Nonprofit in Loudoun. Every survivor who comes through our doors has already shown extraordinary courage by asking for help. Where This Role Comes In – Capital Campaign Manager As the Capital Campaign Manager, you will carry the most ambitious undertaking in LAWS's history across the finish line: the campaign to build a new emergency shelter and community services center for survivors in Loudoun County. With more than 80 percent of the $11.6 million already committed, you will be the person in the room and in the community who closes the gap- engaging donors, telling the story, and moving gifts from first conversation to signed pledge to ribbon-cutting. This is a rare chance to own a campaign end to end, to watch a building rise because of relationships you built, and to know that for decades to come, survivors will find safety in a place you helped make real. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing , Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated nonprofit finance background
• 3-5 years in development, major gifts, or campaign fundraising, preferably including capital campaign experience
• Demonstrated ability as a front-line fundraiser who can personally cultivate, solicit , and steward donors and move them to commitment.
• Ability to own and drive a campaign- setting strategy and plans and taking accountability for results- in partnership with executives and a board .
• Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a prospect pipeline and multiple deadlines independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at presenting and representing LAWS to donors and the community.
• Proficiency with donor databases/CRM (Neon preferred) and Microsoft Office.
• A self-starter who takes initiative and works effectively both independently and in close partnership with the CEO, Board, and volunteers.
• Must live in or near Loudoun County and be able to work locally and in person within the community, with reliable transportation for local donor visits and events.
• Availability for evening and weekend meetings and events as the campaign requires.

Nice To Haves

• Direct experience with a capital campaign, including donor cultivation, solicitation support, and stewardship through pledge fulfillment.
• Experience owning or managing a campaign in-house, or transitioning campaign work from an outside consultant to internal staff.
• Established relationships within the Loudoun County philanthropic, business, or civic community.
• Experience partnering with executives and boards of directors on fundraising strategy.
• Familiarity with Neon CRM or a comparable donor management system, and with moves management.
• One year of experience in the human services field.
• Demonstrated commitment to LAWS' mission and to serving survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital campaign strategy and execution, including campaign goals, timelines, prospect pipeline , fundraising progress, and reporting.
• Cultivate, solicit , and steward campaign donors and prospects, building relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations, and community partners from initial engagement through pledge fulfillment.
• Support CEO, Board, and campaign volunteers in fundraising efforts, including prospect research, solicitation preparation, campaign committee coordination, and donor follow-up.
• Coordinate campaign communications, donor recognition, grants, and stewardship, working with LAWS' marketing and communications firm and supporting capital and shelter-project funding opportunities.
• Plan and coordinate campaign events and milestones, including groundbreaking ceremonies, donor receptions, hard-hat tours, ribbon-cutting, and grand-opening events.
