About The Position

The Canvass Manager will be responsible for managing a team of canvassers in their daily canvassing outreach efforts. This includes overseeing canvassing operations, tracking performance metrics, and troubleshooting issues. As a key figure in this initiative, you will play an essential role in ensuring that the team achieves its canvassing goals and contributes to strengthening democratic participation in Mississippi. The role involves leading efforts in engaging the public through voter registration drives, educating them on deadlines, eligibility, and requirements. Ensuring all canvassing information is accurately recorded and submitted using canvassing applications is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

• At least 1-2 cycles of political canvassing or similar grassroots organizing experience.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a small team in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage the public effectively.
• A results-driven mindset focused on meeting door-knocking targets.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in voter registration initiatives is preferred, but not required.
• Familiarity with voter engagement tools and canvassing software (MiniVAN experience preferred, but not required).
• Passionate about empowering communities through canvassing.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small team of canvassers, providing daily direction and support.
• Ensure the team meets voter registration and engagement goals.
• Coordinate shifts for your team and ensure canvassers are present and accountable for each scheduled shift.
• Monitor canvassers' performance, including the number of doors knocked and voters engaged.
• Ensure data is accurately logged using canvassing tools like MiniVAN.
• Address any issues faced by canvassers in the field, escalating challenges when necessary.
• Provide daily updates to the Regional Manager on your team’s progress and any challenges encountered.
• Lead efforts in engaging the public through voter registration drives, educating them on deadlines, eligibility, and requirements.
• Ensure all canvassing information is accurately recorded and submitted using canvassing applications.
