About The Position

The Outreach Team is hiring Field Directors to manage their offices in Adams County and Kit Carson County, CO. The Field Director will recruit, train, and manage a team of local canvassers to contact residents at the door and build community support for local clean energy projects. They will work within the director team to build an office to scale from the ground up. The Field Director is expected to train canvassers in the field while canvassing themselves to lead by example; they must also communicate long and short-term goals to staff and manage campaign reporting. The Field Director manages canvassers and Team Leads and reports to the Lead Director. The Lead Campaign Director will manage a team of one or more Deputy Directors and will be responsible for building an office to scale from the ground up. The Lead Director position reports to the Project Director, and the Deputy Director position reports to the Lead Director. We're working to make sure Colorado communities have a real say in the clean energy projects taking shape close to home. From the wind and solar development powering the Eastern Plains in Kit Carson County to the grid investment reaching Denver's suburbs in Adams County, Colorado is at the center of the region's clean energy build-out, and the people who live here deserve to be heard in that process. We're canvassing to make sure the voices of Colorado residents who support a reliable, affordable local grid are on the record.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience; ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team
  • Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week
  • Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement
  • Track record of equity and inclusion
  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees
  • Familiarity with VAN and MiniVAN
  • Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities
  • Facilitation experience
  • Local knowledge/experience
  • Bilingual - fluency in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 40–60 hourly staff who will canvass door to door to talk to community members about local clean energy storage projects and build community support for a reliable, affordable energy future
  • Canvass yourself several days a week to train staff and drive office goals
  • Set goals and hold staff accountable to them
  • Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
  • Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
  • Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity of the work
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
  • Develop strategic plans to reach targeted community members in assigned locations
  • Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
