About The Position

This specific role is for a Canvass Director to manage their office in Seattle, WA. The Director will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing a team of local canvassers to engage residents in conversations about supporting clean energy projects. The role involves building an office from the ground up, leading by example in the field, communicating goals, and managing campaign reporting. The position is focused on building community support for local clean energy storage projects in King and Kitsap Counties, aiming to improve energy reliability, lower costs, and support Washington's clean energy objectives. The role is for the summer, from June 9th to July 2nd, with a strong preference for local and in-state candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 10-15 hourly staff who will be canvassing door-to-door to garner support and recruit volunteers for local clean energy projects
  • Set goals and hold staff accountable
  • Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
  • Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
  • Build a diverse team where staff feel respected, while fostering a culture of equity and justice
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure integrity of the work
  • Go in the field yourself a few days per week to canvass, train staff, and help drive office goals
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
  • Develop strategic plans to reach registered voters in assigned locations
  • Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials
