About The Position

The Cantor serves as a primary ministerial leader of song during Mass and other events as needed. This position will serve at the Corpus Christi Cathedral. This is a part-time, as needed position which primarily works during weekends. Ministerial Character: The Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (The Diocese) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Strong vocal proficiency
  • Ability to read music fluently
  • Experience in choral singing
  • Ability to hold a part independently
  • Reliable punctuality
  • Professional communication
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and members of the community
  • Flexible schedule
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
  • Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
  • Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures

  • Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
