KLN Family Brands is currently seeking an experienced Canine Trainer to support the Boarding, Playcare, Grooming, and Retail departments at The Spot, located in Greenfield, MN. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality canine training to dogs and their handlers, ensuring a safe and comfortable training environment. The facility also features a retail area offering KLN Family Brands dog and cat foods, treats, and human treats. Requirements

  • High school graduate (or equivalent)
  • Training Certifications and experience is valued
  • Excellent oral & good written communication skills
  • Previous work experience demonstrating dependability
  • 3-5+ years of work experience in animal care industry preferred
  • Self-motivated, independent worker with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good decision and problem-solving skills
  • Good organization and planning skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and proven coping skills
  • Have a giving-heart, and a genuine love for our canine guests

Responsibilities

  • Provide training evaluations of the applicant dogs and their handlers.
  • Listening to customer and canine expectations, wants & needs. Creating custom training plan for each customer based on your evaluation.
  • Providing clear communication and instruction to our customers and canines, which may include customer homework and off-training time work.
  • Creating a safe training environment for the handler, dog, and our team.
  • Working as a team, helping our retail, grooming and training areas when needed or as time allows.
  • Provide accurate, achievable, and quality canine training for our customer handlers and their dogs.
  • Handling Spot guests (dogs) what may have behavioral issue(s).
  • Basic Obedience and Advanced Obedience skills.
  • Scheduling appointments, returning client calls and emails.
  • Proactively supports company mission and vision statements and exceeding customer service standards.
  • Manage facility and ensuring animal care services are provided in compliance with company procedures.
  • Recommend changes as needed to established company and guest policies and procedures, and monitor for effectiveness.
  • Communicate ideas for expansion (or concerns) related to services we provide to our customers and guests.
  • Handle client service issue escalations in a manner that maintains company’s reputation.
  • Maintain proper use of equipment in assigned areas and maintenance as required.
  • Participate in one-on-one, department, or company meetings with open and honest communication.
  • Manage projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
