About The Position

The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) Special Services Division is currently seeking applicants for Corrections Canine Assistant Handler. These positions are located throughout the state and provide a competitive salary range for qualified applicants. The Corrections Canine Assistant Handler is a full-time position within the Special Services Division of the ADOC. This is canine handling work in the performance of law enforcement certified detection and tracking duties for the ADOC.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 12 months of experience performing canine handling work in the performance of law enforcement detection and tracking duties.
  • All qualified applicants must possess active certification by Alabama Peace Officer's Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) as a law enforcement officer or equivalent law enforcement academy.
  • A copy of the APOSTC certificate must be included with each application.
  • If using an equivalent certification, a letter documenting current, active status provided by the certifying post must be attached to the certification in accordance with APOSTC standards.
