About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician I - Infusion Services - Cancer Care Westwood is an entry level position. The Pharmacy Technician I will assist in accurate medication filling and record keeping to ensure timely delivery of medications. All work will completed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Requirements

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Kansas locations: CPhT required by first board renewal
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Missouri locations: none
  • Pharmacy Technician Registration - State Board of Pharmacy Kansas and/or Missouri - per work state upon Hire
  • Technician must maintain certification on an ongoing basis and complete all continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares medications for dispensing: After passing an initial competency, independently prepares basic sterile compounds with accuracy.
  • Distributes medications and stock items: Accurately pulls medications for stocking in ADS machines. Accurately stocks medications in ADS machines. Uses CSM accurately if required. Maintains distribution records as required.
  • Maintains Pharmacy Inventory: Restocks pharmacy inventory in appropriate quantities from designated back up areas. Ensures rotation of stock and inventory. Pulls outdates. Receives/unpacks drug orders from wholesaler, maintaining appropriate inventory records.
  • Operates pharmacy computer systems: Accurately utilizes basic computer programs to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Compliance and recordkeeping: Follows departmental and hospital policies. Completes required documentation associated with daily work, meeting regulatory standards.
  • Patient Care: Provides courteous, professional service when assisting patients, caregivers, and staff. Approaches daily work with a patient first mindset.
  • Medication Safety: Practices medication safety basics such as barcode scanning and double-checking labels; promptly reports discrepancies to pharmacists or leaders. Reports safety events in Health System reporting tool.
