About The Position

The Campus Service Worker provides a variety of custodial, grounds, and light maintenance services to maintain the interior appearance of residence halls, academic buildings, athletic facilities, administrative buildings, and the surrounding campus grounds. Work is performed using established procedures, techniques, and safety practices while exercising sound judgment in completing assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 0–6 months of directly related work experience.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to learn custodial, groundskeeping, and labor procedures.
• Ability to safely operate custodial and grounds equipment.
• Ability to work from ladders.
• Ability to operate a computer for basic data entry.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing approximately 50–75 pounds.
• Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
• Exposure to dust, chemicals, and cleaning products.
• Operation of commercial custodial and grounds equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain residence halls, academic buildings, athletic facilities, auxiliary buildings, and public areas.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, including fixtures, walls, floors, and partitions.
• Replenish restroom supplies.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets and upholstered furniture.
• Dust and polish furniture, desks, cabinets, and related surfaces.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclable materials.
• Mix and use commercial cleaning and disinfecting chemicals in accordance with safety procedures.
• Complete daily inspections and checklists.
• Operate commercial custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers, burnishers, and other powered equipment.
• Lock and unlock buildings as directed.
• Move furniture and equipment for campus events.
• Perform light maintenance including: Changing light bulbs, Replacing air filters, Unstopping drains, Replacing ceiling tiles, Patching walls, Painting, Replacing caulking.
• Maintain the exterior appearance of campus buildings.
• Remove litter, leaves, snow, ice, mud, and other debris from sidewalks and entrances.
• Apply salt to sidewalks during winter weather.
• Remove graffiti.
• Operate hand and power tools, mowers, blowers, sweepers, and other grounds equipment.
• Conduct health and safety inspections and room condition inspections.
• Submit work orders.
• Attend required safety and job-related training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
