About The Position

Under general direction from the Director Campus Security, this position assists with all security functions, including patrolling, investigations, monitoring the security camera system, and responding to calls for service. The Campus Security Officer acts as a liaison between WCTC and its staff, students, and the general public. This role is a casual position, scheduled for up to 20 hours per week, primarily during evenings and weekends, located on either the Waukesha or Pewaukee campus.

Requirements

Aptitude for organization and problem solving
Working knowledge of safety and security principles
Ability to communicate and work effectively with administrative personnel, instructors, students, and the general public
Working knowledge of vocational, technical and adult education
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discrete and professional manner
Familiarity with audio/visual and computer equipment and operations
Associate’s degree in Security or Criminal Justice required, or equivalent work experience
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain that authorization through employment.

Nice To Haves

Previous security/public safety experience preferred
Two (2) years work experience in an educational setting preferred, which has emphasized public contact

Responsibilities

Guarding and patrolling campus property.
Investigating accidents, injuries and criminal acts.
Filing required reports relating to illnesses/injuries, investigations, criminal activities, security matters and behavioral incidents.
Providing direction to clerical support staff and Student Security Officers as necessary.
Interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures, communicating information, and resolving problems and conflicts.
Monitoring all security equipment and activating appropriate alarms/notification systems.
Collaborating with local Police/Fire units in performance of security activities.
Assisting with surveillance when needed.
Performing other duties as assigned.
