About The Position

The Campus Security Officer protects the campus by maintaining access controls, responding to emergencies, and detecting, deterring, and reporting suspicious activity. The officer operates computers and security-related equipment to prepare reports and communications and use surveillance, intrusion detection, access control, fire protection, and patrol reporting systems. This role works the second shift, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and requires a valid New York State motor vehicle operator’s license and all licenses, certifications, and authorizations required to perform the work. The position requires completion of required training and maintenance of relevant certifications. Duties include responding to incidents such as fires, spills, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, water breaks, odors, and floods. Applicants must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods, climb stairs, work for extended periods exposed to environmental elements, and follow directions. Employment is contingent on applicable background and drug screening and a driving-record check because the job involves operating a GE-owned, leased, or rented vehicle for company business. The role may require access to U.S. export-controlled information; final offers, where applicable, depend on authorization from the U.S. Government. The stated base hourly pay range is $27.81–$28.80, plus a $1 shift differential.
