About The Position

The Campus Security Officer is responsible for responding to and protecting the building from various incidents including fire, medical emergencies, theft, illegal entry, and loitering, in accordance with MCCNO policies and procedures. This role involves patrolling assigned areas to identify safety hazards and document irregularities, ensuring the security of doors, windows, and gates, and verifying that lights and equipment are turned off in non-operational areas. The officer will also warn violators of rule infractions, report them, and escort individuals exhibiting suspicious or criminal behavior off the premises. Additionally, the position requires reporting and logging data on unusual occurrences, preparing detailed incident reports, and gathering information through interviews and statements. Monitoring entrances, exits, and the movement of people and vehicles for suspicious behavior is crucial, as is escorting departing personnel to ensure safety. Participation in staff meetings and training sessions is also a key component of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and protect the building from incidents of fire, medical emergency, theft, illegal entry, loitering and other suspicious acts in accordance with the policies and procedures set by the MCCNO.
  • Patrol assigned areas checking for safety hazards and document any irregularities found.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure and have not been tampered with.
  • Ensure that all lights and equipment are turned off in areas that are not in operation.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, report infractions and escort persons engaging in suspicious and/or criminal behavior off the premises.
  • Report and log data on unusual occurrences such as property damage, injuries, theft, etc... and create detailed incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Gather information by interviewing and obtaining statements from victims, witnesses and suspects.
  • Prepare incident reports in a reasonable amount of time and free from errors.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, movement of people and vehicles and report any suspicious behavior immediately.
  • Observe and escort departing personnel off the premises to guard against possible safety hazards.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and training sessions.
