About The Position

Moody Bible Institute is seeking a Public Safety Officer to help create a secure and welcoming environment for our students, employees, residents, and guests on our Chicago campus. As part of our Public Safety team, you will play a vital role in protecting our community while supporting Moody's mission of equipping people with the truth of God's Word. Moody Bible Institute is a Christ-centered higher education and media ministry dedicated to equipping people with the truth of God's Word. Through trusted biblical teaching, media, and educational resources, Moody reaches audiences around the world with the gospel and seeks to make a lasting Kingdom impact. Reporting to the Chief of Public Safety, the Public Safety Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of Moody Bible Institute's Chicago campus through proactive patrols, emergency response, incident management, and community engagement. This role requires sound judgment, professionalism, and a servant-hearted approach to serving others.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or two years of related security, public safety, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field.
  • Illinois PERC Card.
  • Illinois FOID Card.
  • Experience responding to fire, medical, or security incidents.
  • Previous security, law enforcement, campus safety, or military experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols to deter and identify security concerns.
  • Serve as a primary responder to campus incidents, alarms, emergency calls, and 911 notifications.
  • Assess, manage, and secure incident scenes while coordinating with emergency responders and city officials.
  • Prepare accurate, timely, and detailed incident reports and related documentation.
  • Monitor and oversee part-time staff and dispatch operations during assigned shifts.
  • Enforce campus policies, including parking regulations and access control procedures.
  • Provide security coverage for campus events and activities.
  • Assist students, employees, and visitors by providing information, guidance, and support.
  • Issue trespass notices when necessary and respond to unauthorized access concerns.
  • Provide security escorts, cash transport support, and executive protection services as assigned.
  • Complete additional departmental duties and special assignments as directed.
