About The Position
Grand Canyon University is seeking dedicated Public Safety professionals to make a positive impact on their campus. The Campus Safety Guard will monitor campus access, patrol facilities, respond to emergencies, document incidents, conduct investigations, enforce parking regulations, and interact with the campus community. Responsibilities may include both stationary guard duties and patrol assignments, depending on business needs. The role requires the ability to work occasional daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including stamina for chasing, apprehending, subduing, and restraining.
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Must successfully pass a drug test.
- Must provide a positive example by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree or College credits in Criminal Justice or related study.
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, and First Responder.
Responsibilities
- Monitor access points to campus facilities, ensuring proper identification for entry.
- Patrol and monitor assigned parking areas and garages for security and assistance.
- Provide escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty.
- Offer public assistance such as lockout services, jump-starts, and general information.
- Conduct preliminary investigations for complaints, accidents, and violations.
- Respond to emergencies including medical, bomb threats, and fires, providing first aid (CPR and AED use).
- Model and support a community-oriented approach to safety and security.
- Interact positively and professionally with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
- Perform other assigned duties.
