About The Position

As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a full-time Campus Police Officer to promote Marian University’s Catholic mission and identity by guarding the peace, tranquility and serenity of the University while attempting to ensure justice and maintain the dignity of the individuals. The Campus Police Officer is part of the Campus Police Department pursuant to Indiana Code, Title 21, Article 39, Chapter 4.0 to 4.7. The Campus Police Officer has general police powers, and has the same common law and statutory powers, privileges and immunities as sheriffs and constables. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services. The Campus Police Officer is responsible for enforcing local, state, and federal laws serving to protect life, primarily, and property secondarily. Comply with Marian University rules and policies, guarding the peace, tranquility and serenity of the University while attempting to ensure justice and maintain the dignity of the individuals.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • The new hire must successfully complete the 16-week Indiana Law Enforcement Academy training.
  • Must maintain certification, attend a minimum of 24 hours annual in-service training.
