About The Position

Police Officers enforce laws, regulations, and university policies while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment through patrols on foot or in a patrol vehicle, emergency response, and the investigation of crimes and traffic incidents. Responsibilities include preparing reports, collecting and preserving evidence, serving warrants, testifying in court, providing security for special events, and assisting students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Officers also perform traffic and parking enforcement, building security, report suspicious or hazardous activity, serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), and may perform armed courier duties. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License upon hire.
  • Must be certified as a Peace Officer by the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) within 6 months of hire.
  • Obtain and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification through the department.
  • Must pass medical exam, as well as a physical fitness test.
  • Must pass standardized written aptitude test, pass Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and California Psychological Inventory (CPI) psychometric tests.
  • No felony convictions, prior protective orders, domestic violence convictions, or other crimes of a violent nature.
  • Not currently subject to an order of CLEET, or other state certifying authority, revoking, suspending, or accepting a voluntary surrender of peace officer certification.
  • No criminal charges pending in any state, tribal or federal court.
  • Not participating in a deferred sentence for a crime of moral turpitude.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older by hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • 24+ months public safety, law enforcement, military experience, or Collegiate Officers Program graduate.
  • Bilingual
