The Campus Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for students, staff, and community patrons. This role involves patrolling school property, observing student behavior, and controlling and reporting violations of campus policies and behavior standards. The position requires the ability to work harmoniously with others, communicate effectively with students, parents, and teachers, and understand and follow instructions. The Campus Monitor must be able to deal appropriately with strangers on campus, supervise students in various situations including potentially confrontative ones, and resolve conflicts. Promoting safe conditions and reporting unsafe conditions are also key aspects of the role. The position requires an awareness of student behavior, gang identification, and controlled substances. The ability to perform moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, restraining students, breaking up fights, apprehending offenders, and working in inclement weather, is necessary. The Campus Monitor must also support District Core Values, interact respectfully, be sensitive to cultural practices, collaborate effectively, seek professional development, be accountable, and hold high expectations for self and students.
