About The Position

The Campus Minister for Justice and Solidarity leads student formation and co-curricular learning focused on justice, solidarity, service, and community engagement. This position integrates Catholic social teaching and the spirituality and charism of the Sisters of the Holy Cross into service and justice programming while creating opportunities that welcome and engage students from diverse faith backgrounds. The Campus Minister oversees the Beyond the Belle and Spes Service Experience programs, including program development, logistics, student recruitment and preparation, reflection and integration, and student leader development. The position supervises student community engagement leaders, Spes Service Experience leaders, and interns involved in justice and advocacy programming. The Campus Minister collaborates across campus to strengthen experiential learning opportunities and develops and maintains meaningful relationships with local community organizations and ministry partners. This position also provides ongoing mentorship and pastoral care to students and contributes to initiatives that advance the mission of Saint Mary’s College as a Catholic and Holy Cross institution.

Requirements

Master of Divinity, Theology, Spirituality, or a related field required.
Experience in higher education in a student-facing role or experience working in ministry with young adults.
Experience planning and leading service opportunities and justice-focused programming.
Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic social teaching.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute programs or events from conception through completion.
Proficiency with computer applications, including Google Workspace.
Commitment to hospitality and welcome and the ability to engage students from diverse faith backgrounds.
Excellent written, verbal, public speaking, interpersonal, and social communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with students, faculty, staff, community partners, and the Sisters of the Holy Cross.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Experience planning and leading justice immersions or service immersion experiences.
Familiarity with the charism and spirituality of the Sisters of the Holy Cross.
Experience developing student leadership and formation programs.
Experience working with community organizations, nonprofit agencies, or ministry partners.
Experience integrating faith formation, justice, service, and experiential learning in a higher education setting.

Responsibilities

Lead the Beyond the Belle and Spes Service Experience programs, including program development, logistics, recruitment and preparation of student participants and faculty/staff advisors, reflection and integration meetings, and student leader development.
Collaborate with the Prikkel Advising, Career, and Experience Center, faculty, and other campus partners to strengthen experiential learning opportunities for students.
Help students connect faith, justice, and service through guided preparation and reflection that incorporates Catholic social teaching and the charism of the Sisters of the Holy Cross.
Oversee and guide the direction of Holy Cross Justice Circles in collaboration with the Director of the Holy Cross Justice Collaborative.
Advise the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Ambassadors program and maintain communication with the local CRS Coalition.
Oversee Federal Work-Study Community Service job placements, hiring, and timecard approval in collaboration with Student Financial Services.
Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations, community partners, and ministry organizations.
Supervise and mentor student community engagement leaders, Spes Service Experience leaders, and student interns who lead justice and advocacy programming.
Provide ongoing mentorship, pastoral support, and guidance to students.
Evaluate programs and recommend opportunities for growth, improvement, and increased student engagement.
Collaborate with the Center for Faith, Action and Ministry team on strategic planning, student leader formation, special events, and other initiatives that advance the mission of Saint Mary’s College.
Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive campus environment by developing programs and opportunities that encourage students of diverse backgrounds and faith traditions to participate in service, justice, and community engagement.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
