About The Position

TSMC Arizona offers an opportunity to work at one of the most advanced semiconductor fabs in the United States. TSMC Arizona’s first fab is in full operations on its N5 and N4 process technology. Its second fab will utilize its N3 process technology and will start operations in the second half of 2027. It’s third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or even more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. America’s leading technology companies rely on TSMC Arizona for the next generations of chips that will power the AI and digital future. TSMC Arizona’s Yield Enhancement Department is responsible for Defect reduction, Yield improvement, and Inspection methodology excellence.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) on-site at our Phoenix location.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing process and design would be a strong add.

  • The candidate will be expected to be self-motivated learner, good at proactive collaboration, and should get the opportunity to work in a team presenting and discussion their work and ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Intelligent Manufacturing Engineer Intern (MFG): Focus on ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality wafers by driving productivity and efficiency through advanced technologies such as Smart Scheduling and Precise Dispatching. Responsibilities include system optimization, productivity improvement initiatives, and quality defense enhancements to support daily operations.
  • Advanced Material Handling System (AMHS) Engineer Intern: Focus on automated systems that ensure efficient, timely, and accurate wafer transfers. Projects may include improving Delivery Time Accuracy (DTA) or enhancing Stocker dispatching systems to optimize lot movement and cycle times.
  • Quality Management Engineer (AQE) Intern: Support on TSMC's mission of world-class quality systems by collaborating with Taiwan's Central Quality team. Your role includes monitoring wafer fabrication processes, analyzing manufacturing parameters, applying statistical methods, and leveraging predictive analytics to optimize process control. You'll also contribute to product success during launches and technology ramps while ensuring compliance with global quality standards.
  • Product Engineering (PES) Intern: Focus on analyzing yield and process issues to support customer needs and drive improvements in semiconductor manufacturing. Your work will involve identifying process and quality "sweet spots" to optimize yield efficiency, performing detailed layout analyses to uncover root causes, and conducting electrical and physical failure analyses to pinpoint process-stage issues.
  • Mask Engineering Intern (EBO): Be responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and efficiency of photomask tools within our advanced manufacturing operations. This role involves collaborating with tool owners to manage the installation and maintenance of photomask equipment, partnering with tool vendors to improve maintenance processes, and developing in-line monitoring systems to proactively identify and address potential issues.
  • Central Start-Up (CST) Tool Install Engineer Intern: Focus on supporting the installation of manufacturing equipment and tools by conducting site assessments, preparing installation plans, and coordinating timelines with internal teams. You will work on projects such as surveying construction sites to identify optimization opportunities, developing improvement proposals, and presenting findings through reports or visual presentations. Demonstrate project management skills by identifying bottlenecks in the installation process and recommending solutions to streamline operations.
  • Industrial Safety & Health (ISEP) Engineer Intern: Focus on supporting and promoting workplace safety and environmental sustainability efforts in advanced semiconductor facilities. Collaborate with departments to implement safety protocols, evaluate hazards (e.g., radiation, lasers, gases, chemicals), conduct risk assessments, and refine high-risk SOPs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Engineer Intern: Be part of TSMC's DevOps team to tackle analytical projects and machine vision tasks that address production line issues. Work on projects like pattern recognition, machine learning, and web development while learning agile software development, implement Prometheus and Grafana monitoring services that were deployed to Kubernetes platform, implemented automated deployment pipelines utilizing Microsoft Azure DevOps and machine learning/statistics model or algorithms developed.
  • Facilities Electrical Engineering Intern: Support the operation and validation of electrical systems, including 230kV/34.5kV transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, UPS, and transmission lines. Responsibilities include system walkdowns, validation, startups, and developing operations and maintenance documentation. Contribute to special projects within the electrical engineering scope.
  • Facilities Mechanical Engineering Intern: Assist in the operation and validation of mechanical systems, including cleanroom and non-cleanroom HVAC, air abatement, and chilled water systems. Responsibilities include system walkdowns, validation, startups, and creating operations and maintenance documentation. Contribute to special projects within the mechanical engineering scope.
  • Facilities Water Treatment Engineering Intern: Support the operation and validation of water treatment systems, including ultrapure water and wastewater systems. Responsibilities include system walkdowns, validation, startups, and developing operations and maintenance documentation. Contribute to special projects within the water treatment engineering scope.
  • Facilities Gas & Chemical Engineering Intern: Assist in the operation and validation of gas and chemical systems, including pure chemical delivery, slurry chemical delivery, bulk and specialty gases, and chemical waste systems. Responsibilities include system walkdowns, validation, startups, and creating operations and maintenance documentation. Contribute to special projects within the gas and chemical engineering scope.
  • Chemical System Construction Intern: Work closely with TSMC construction and engineering teams to manage systems for storing and distributing specialty and bulk chemicals and gases. Oversee construction activities, assist with forecasting, reporting, and work planning, troubleshoot commissioning challenges, resolve field issues, and respond to RFIs to ensure seamless project execution and optimal system performance.
  • Civil Structural Architectural (CSA) Intern: Collaborate with TSMC construction teams and crews to oversee concrete, steel structures, and architectural finishes. Monitor key construction activities, support forecasting and reporting and work planning activities, troubleshoot construction hold-ups and field issues, and respond to RFIs to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Electrical Systems Construction Intern: Collaborate with TSMC construction teams, electrical engineers, and crews on electrical systems ranging from low voltage to high voltage (up to 230kV). Monitor and track electrical installation and troubleshooting activities. Support forecasting, reporting, and work planning efforts with project management. Assist in resolving commissioning issues, field challenges, and responding to RFIs from construction crews.
  • Water System Construction Intern: Collaborate with TSMC construction teams, mechanical and water engineers, and crews on advanced ultra-pure water systems and specialty wastewater treatment systems. Monitor and track construction activities in the field. Support forecasting, reporting, and work planning with project management. Assist in resolving commissioning issues, field challenges, and responding to RFIs from construction crews.
  • Mechanical System Construction Intern: Collaborate with TSMC construction teams, mechanical engineers, and crews on systems such as HVAC, clean room systems, air abatement, and process water systems. Monitor and track construction activities in the field. Support forecasting, reporting, and work planning with project management. Assist in resolving commissioning issues, clean room contamination, field challenges, and responding to RFIs from construction crews.
