About The Position

The Campus Grounds Mechanic performs grounds maintenance, general and routine repairs, and maintenance functions across the facility. The role maintains landscaped areas and paved surfaces, operates grounds machinery and tools safely, supports construction and remodeling projects, and conducts inspections and preventive maintenance. The employee also helps other trades and may assist with facility furniture and equipment moves.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid Florida driver's license with no more than 4 points.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma.
• Two to three years of general maintenance mechanic experience, including basic electrical and mechanical work.

Responsibilities

• Empty trash cans as scheduled and remove and transfer trash and garbage from facility areas.
• Maintain grounds and remove debris from roads.
• Power-wash, sweep, and clean entrances, sidewalks, parking lots, parking structures, and surrounding paved areas; remove gum as scheduled.
• Blow parking structures and parking lots, and rake or blow leaves.
• Dig trenches and holes for piping, sprinkler heads, and plants.
• Mix and pour concrete; patch pavement holes; treat and apply sealants to sidewalks, asphalt, and wood.
• Install signs and paint road markings as needed.
• Plant flowers, bushes, and trees; cut and trim grass; remove weeds; prune shrubs and other plants; and water landscaped areas.
• Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
• Move, install, replace, or remove car bumpers as needed.
• Maintain and inspect issues related to Life Safety and assist with drills and codes.
• Perform routine inspections and cleaning of storm drains.
• Assist with construction, remodeling, and maintenance projects and help other trades as needed.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and general safety checks related to grounds and equipment.
• Safely operate grounds machinery and tools, protect the safety of other staff, and use assigned personal protective equipment properly.
• Inspect and report equipment and signs requiring repair.
• Perform general and routine maintenance functions and repairs involving grounds.
• May assist with furniture and equipment moves throughout the facility.
