About The Position

The Outreach Team is seeking a full-time Campaign Organizer to work in various locations across Iowa, including Dubuque, Sioux City, Ottumwa, Fort Dodge, Waterloo, Oelwein, Maquoketa, and Wapello County. The role is expected to begin immediately and continue through the end of the year. This position is crucial for powering the progressive movement by engaging communities in civic action. Organizers will focus on building a future that is fairer, healthier, safer, and more peaceful. The core of the role involves recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to drive basebuilding efforts focused on corporate polluter accountability. Organizers will engage constituents on issues such as corporate accountability, healthcare, big agriculture, affordability, and opportunities for action. The initial phase involves building a supporter and volunteer base for canvassing and petitioning, followed by engaging volunteers through campaign events and actions. In the fall, the focus will shift to driving sign-ups for electoral work. The campaign will conclude with debriefing sessions to inform volunteers on continued involvement in corporate accountability actions within their communities.

  • Experience working for nonprofits and issue campaigns.
  • Data Management and Evaluation Experience: Experience working with various data management systems and tools, mainly Google Suite.
  • Experience with Relevant Campaign Tools and Technologies: VAN, Action Network, ThruText, MailChimp, eCRMs like EveryAction, or social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Event or Project Planning & Management, Implementation or Evaluation.
  • Knowledge or previous experience working on this issue.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for grassroots actions, including canvassing and petitioning.
  • Identify new supporters and volunteers through door-knocking, flyering, and in-field recruitment efforts.
  • Conduct grassroots skills trainings for volunteers.
  • Maintain a meticulous volunteer list.
  • Represent the campaign at community events and engage with coalition and partner organizations.
  • Gather over a thousand petitions in support of key campaign issues.
  • Generate hundreds of additional actions targeting Members of Congress via social media, phone calls, postcards, and photo petitions.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to increase petition gathering and event engagement.
  • Build relationships with community leaders, organizational partners, and VIPs.
  • Register voters in key Iowa districts, ensuring compliance with VR laws.
  • Organize and execute high-visibility in-person events.
  • Educate community members about climate investments and the urgency of continued actions.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with all messaging and legal requirements for self and volunteers.
  • Recruit volunteers to post on social media platforms.
  • Utilize peer-to-peer texting services and relational organizing tools.
  • Send email campaigns to recruit activists.
  • Track all interactions with detailed notes for daily reporting and weekly summaries.
