About The Position

The Outreach Team is seeking a full-time Campaign Organizer to work in key counties in Iowa. This role is crucial for powering the progressive movement by engaging communities in civic action. Organizers will focus on building a base of volunteers and supporters to advocate for corporate polluter accountability, health care, affordability, and other key issues. The position involves recruiting and training volunteers, organizing campaign events and actions, driving voter registration, and managing digital outreach efforts. The campaign runs from August 16th through the end of the year, with potential for advancement.

  • Experience with VAN, Action Network, ThruText, MailChimp, eCRMs like EveryAction, or social media tools.
  • Event or Project Planning & Management, Implementation or Evaluation experience.
  • Knowledge or previous experience working on corporate accountability, climate action, or healthcare issues.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers for grassroots actions, including canvassing and petitioning.
  • Identify new supporters and volunteers through door-knocking, flyering, and in-field recruitment efforts.
  • Conduct grassroots skills trainings for volunteers.
  • Maintain a detailed volunteer list.
  • Represent the campaign in community spaces and events, engaging with coalition and partner organizations.
  • Gather petitions in support of key campaign issues.
  • Generate actions targeting Members of Congress through social media, phone calls, postcards, and photo petitions.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to increase petition gathering and event engagement.
  • Build relationships with community leaders, organizational partners, and VIPs.
  • Register voters in key Iowa districts.
  • Organize and execute high-visibility in-person events.
  • Educate community members about climate investments and the urgency of continued actions.
  • Ensure all messaging and legal requirements are met.
  • Recruit volunteers for social media engagement.
  • Use peer-to-peer texting services and relational organizing tools for communication.
  • Send email campaigns to recruit activists.
  • Track interactions and report campaign results daily and weekly.
