About The Position

Camp Wise Co-Counselors are high school leaders who support a group of campers under the guidance of the Camp Leadership Team. They help ensure campers’ emotional and physical safety, assist with daily activities, and foster a positive, fun, and inclusive environment. Ideal candidates are responsible, energetic, and collaborative, eager to participate fully in camp life while supporting their co-staff and campers. As a key staff member in our religious institution, you will serve as a role model of our faith’s tenets, demonstrating them daily to our members and the broader Temple community. This position plays a vital role in transmitting the expectations and values of our faith, ensuring that the Temple continues to minister effectively to the needs of our campers and members.

Requirements

  • Entering 12th grade or older preferred (must be 16+ years old)
  • Responsible, energetic, and enthusiastic demeanor.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow direction, be flexible, work as part of a team, and engage appropriately with campers.
  • Calm, empathetic approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with youth programs, summer camp, or informal education is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Help deliver Camp Wise’s mission by supporting a fun, safe, and values-based community for campers and staff.
  • Assist in supervising and guiding an assigned group of campers during each session while helping build community within the cohort.
  • Participate in all camp activities, including swimming, sports, music, arts & crafts, yoga, morning circles, Shabbat, carnivals, and field trips.
  • Support specialists in daily activities and assist directors in camp-wide events.
  • Act as a positive role model for campers and co-staff.
  • Communicate observations, progress, or concerns to Head Counselors and directors as needed.
  • Assist in creating camper programming alongside co-staff.
  • Participate in extended care sessions when needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and help maintain a supportive, engaging environment.
  • Assist on field trips (may include overtime).
  • Help resolve minor camper and staff issues within the group, escalating to Head Counselors when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
