About The Position

Under the direct supervision the Cultural Program Manager and indirect supervision of the Program Director, the Camp Attendant will have a variety of responsibilities relating to the support of camp programs and maintenance of camp facilities. The Camp Attendant will assist with various tasks around the camp including, but not limited to: wood and water gathering, bear guard duties, and overall camp safety.

Requirements

Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
Work assigned schedule without interruptions or distractions.
Able to climb on uneven surfaces, and stairs, and participate in physical recreational activities.
Lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds, if needed, using appropriate and safe lifting techniques. Work as a team to lift objects weighing more than fifty (50) pounds.

Responsibilities

Maintains the cleanliness of the Nuchek Island property while camp is in session.
Maintains accurate inventory and ensures proper storage of tools, equipment, and supplies upon completion of tasks.
Supports the program team with preparation for evening activities.
Reports incidents of trespass and/or vandalism.
Performs duties in a timely, cost efficient manner.
Supports camp activities.
Works with Program Coordinating Team and other staff to present safety programs and expectations, and reports all safety concerns to Program Director.
Watches out for bears and alerts participants and staff if a bear is in or near camp
Assists kitchen staff, as needed, in moving food, supplies, and equipment.
Stocks supplies and maintains restrooms and bath houses, as needed.
Provides regular reports to Program Director including, a “final” or close-out report with summaries of problems experienced, suggestions and/or recommendations for future camps.
Maintains water and firewood supply at Subsistence Building.
Maintains wash houses by starting the fire daily and replenishing wood and water supply
Washes dishes in the kitchen during scheduled shift.
Performs other duties as assigned.
