About The Position

As our Year-Round Camp Nurse, you'll play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of campers and staff across all camp and therapeutic recreation programs - including weekend respites, summer camp, travel trips, and special events. This is not your typical nursing job - this is healthcare with heart, in a dynamic, engaging, and sometimes muddy setting. Requirements

  • Current Maryland RN or LPN license in good standing
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, preferably with children, individuals with disabilities, or in a camp/community health setting
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and overnights during camp sessions or travel programs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pediatric, community health, school, or emergency nursing
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and medication administration systems
  • Sense of humor, flexibility, and a love for the outdoors

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine and emergency medical care to campers and staff during all programming.
  • Maintain and administer medications in accordance with state guidelines and individual healthcare plans.
  • Document all health-related incidents, treatments, and medications in compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, physicians, and support staff to coordinate medical needs and ensure continuity of care.
  • Oversee inventory and maintenance of medical supplies, equipment, and first aid kits.
  • Educate staff on health-related topics including hygiene, infection control, and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in planning and executing camper health screenings at intake and throughout programs.
  • Support off-site events and travel programs as needed with medical coverage.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and health-conscious environment for all participants.
