About The Position

The Program Coordinator provides ongoing support to campers with T1D in an outdoor environment during the summer months at the Jack Rua Camp for Children with Diabetes (Camp Jack.) They will work closely with the Camp Director to ensure all campers receive an opportunity for a safe and fun camp experience. The Program Coordinator will help plan and implement program activities and support all camp counselors by assisting them with their groups, activities, and day-to-day responsibilities throughout the summer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Maintain on file a current copy of all required professional licenses, CPR, first aid, and health records.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with children, families, and staff.
  • Must be able to work in a high-paced, active, outdoor environment while standing/walking for the majority of the day.
  • A qualifying criminal background check is required.
  • Ability to provide a current copy of all required health records.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Camp Director with the day-to-day operation of Camp Jack.
  • Provide ongoing assistance with training in the treatment and care of Type 1 Diabetes.
  • Co-present a robust staff training session for new and returning staff.
  • Share communication with families about behaviors and discipline, daily a ctivities, and healthcare.
  • Assist Camp Director to meet all ratios and safety requirements set forth by the Department of Public Health, ACA Accreditation standards, and Agency policies.
  • In the absence of the Camp Director, the Program Coordinator will assist the Director of Community Partnerships with the daily program operation.
  • Support medical staff with any daily challenges and daily communication with families if needed.
  • Assist the Camp Director with the implementation of the Counselor in Training Program.
  • Take the lead on theme week activity planning and implementation.
  • Communicate the schedules and daily expectations to the counselors.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with all Camp Jack staff.
  • Assist in planning and implementing trips and special activities/guests, both pre-camp and during the camp season.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with Camp Welch leadership to help ensure positive interactions and to navigate camp-wide concerns as a team.
  • Plan and participate in family engagement activities to kick off and continue to foster positive relationships for the campers and their families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or the Director of Community Partnerships.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and required training sessions, including in-service training, as scheduled.
  • Maintain all program and Agency required trainings.
