About The Position

The Camp Helper plays a key role in creating a safe, clean, and engaging camp environment by supporting both camper supervision and daily operational needs. This position combines elements of camp counseling, civic space ambassador, and onsite operations support. Camp Helpers assist with fun and enriching activities for children, fostering positive social interactions, and ensuring the safety and well being of all campers. They also help maintain the cleanliness and organization of camp facilities, support layout setup and breakdown, and provide friendly customer service. Through active supervision, a welcoming presence, and consistent attention to safety and cleanliness, Camp Helpers contribute to a joyful, secure, and high-quality experience for every camper.

Requirements

Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and make good decisions under pressure.
Comfortable engaging with the public, including addressing conflict with professionalism.
Personable, positive and enthusiastic attitude with capability to deal effectively with people (both internal and external).
Able to work independently while contributing to a team.
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and remain on foot for extended periods.
Be able to work holidays, evenings and weekends as scheduled.
Must be able to pass background check.
Must have the physical ability to support and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, swimming, team building initiatives, physical games, and activities.
Must be capable of carrying loads up to 30 pounds.
Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
Must have the ability to physically manage and support children when needed for safety in general camp activities (child weighing 50 - 200 pounds).
Ability to perform a variety of tasks outdoor in hot temperatures.
Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodation.
If applicable, remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
If applicable, see and observe all sections of an assigned zone of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to regulate emotions and maintain composure in stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in safety, hospitality, or public-facing roles is a plus.
First Aid CPR certification preferred.
Compare, decide, problem solve, analyze, instruct, and interpret.

Responsibilities

Support camp staff at all times and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
Perform daily camp setup, complete weekly inventory, and maintain clean, organized, and accessible camp storage areas.
Assist with trash removal, equipment needs, and general cleaning.
Assist with post‑lunch breakdown and refrigeration, conduct camp group safety checks, and support programming partners with load‑in/load‑out, activity setup, and breakdown.
Foster positive social interactions and help mediate conflicts within the park by cultivating positive customer service interactions and enforcing civic space rules.
Maintain constant surveillance of the playground and pool area, know, understand and follow all emergency procedures, and respond to emergency situations immediately and with proper reporting procedure.
Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
Greet campers, parents, and park patrons with a friendly, welcoming attitude.
Report notable concerns, emergencies, or behavioral issues to supervisor.
Collaborate with camp staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
Other duties as needed.
