About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating the day-to-day operations of the camp dining hall. The role ensures the dining hall operates in compliance with health standards and regulations. It also involves supervising, scheduling, evaluating, and participating in the work of dining hall personnel, including Camp Dining Room Attendants, Camp Dishwashers, and Camp Kitchen Assistants.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to observe children and youth and ensure their safety.
  • Endurance, including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate dining hall equipment and participate in activities.
  • Normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to live in a camp setting and to work irregular hours.
  • Daily exposure to the sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in food service management.
  • At least six months of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work of dining hall attendants, dishwashers, and kitchen assistants.
  • Trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures.
  • Monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure quality standards and health regulations are enforced.
  • Maintains and follows all health regulations as to the cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen.
  • Checks to ensure all cleanup is completed properly before dismissing Camp Dining Room Attendants and Camp Dishwashers.
