About The Position

Marvin’s is a division of campers ages 6 – 21 with Special Needs. The main object of a camp counselor is to ensure the safety, well-being and over all camp experience of your campers is held to the highest standard. As a counselor, you would be working in a group of campers (number varies) alongside 1 to 2 additional counselors.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate, organize, facilitate and carry out daily routines
  • Fun, energetic and eager to participate
  • Updated medical form
  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Experience working with children/at a camp
  • Experience with the Special Needs population (not required but preferred)
  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Ability to commute/relocate to Staten Island, NY 10314

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the group
  • Organize and facilitate activities
  • Encourage camper involvement
  • Identify and respond to camper behavioral issues and needs
  • Safeguard campers well-being
  • Attend training and orientation prior to the start of camp
  • Keep open communication between staff and Director
  • Communicate with co-counselor to manage the group
