About The Position

This is a seasonal role for Summer 2026. The Camp Counselor will be responsible for supervising and organizing children and horse activities for ages 6-12, ensuring the safety of campers, and maintaining camp equipment. The role involves teaching general horsemanship in a fun and safe atmosphere, implementing department policies, and assisting with the cleanliness of stables and arenas. The position requires a professional standard of excellence in horse care and ensuring a safe environment for children, members, and their horses.

Requirements

• Experience working with children and riding programs.
• Knowledge of horses and children’s activities.
• Professional standard of excellence of horse care required.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR and First Aid Certified, or ability to become certified.
• Ability to coordinate and perform a children’s trail ride.
• Must possess excellent oral and interpersonal skills.
• High level of confidence.
• Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions.
• Must possess the ability to interact with children, members and staff on all levels in a professional, positive, and friendly manner.
• Working knowledge of safety around children, members, guests and horses.
• Position requires a highly professional demeanor with children and staff, adaptability, flexibility and adherence to a strict level of confidentiality.
• Ability to read, understand, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and organize children and horse activities for ages 6-12.
• Supervise and care for the safety of campers.
• Maintain camp equipment and supplies in clean and working order.
• Ensure good employee relations by working with all employees in a fair and consistent manner.
• Teach general horsemanship in a fun, safe atmosphere.
• Implement all department policies and procedures as set forth by Las Campanas.
• Help keep all equipment for clean and good working order.
• Assist in keeping all stables and arenas clean at all times.
• Ensure the center provides a safe environment for children, members and their horses.
