About The Position

Study Smart Tutors is a college and career access organization that collaborates with partners to promote educational equity, access, and success by providing a diverse range of tools for students, families, and educators. Our mission is grounded in closing opportunity gaps and empowering communities through high-quality, culturally responsive academic support. We offer an array of college access courses at no cost to our students or their families. We are able to accomplish this by partnering with schools, outreach programs, and other college and career access organizations to provide efficient and effective college and career access programming and classroom-based test preparation. The Camp Counselor will work to ensure students receive support before/during/after tutoring sessions in conjunction with the expectations of the Study Smart Tutors’ Education Department. The position is a part-time, hourly position that maintains and progresses the organization’s tutoring products, practices, and persons in the Fresno area. The Camp Counselor will report directly to the Lead ASM (Gregory).

Requirements

Must have experience working with diverse student populations, including English language learners and neurodivergent learners.
Understanding of Social Emotional Learning.
Familiarity with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworks to address the academic, behavioral, and emotional needs of students in high-need urban schools.
Experience with STEAM intervention frameworks and practices.
Effective support with students.
Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
In-person availability is required.
Scheduled hours: Mondays through Fridays from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM PST.
Complete and pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting based on location.

Nice To Haves

Teaching or tutoring experience is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site student support in planning for Fresno STEAM Summer Camp, integrating technology, and carrying out other directives from the team, customers, and partners.
Provide tutoring support to small and large groups of students in STEAM subjects for grades K-5th.
Adapt to new materials and teaching strategies.
Maintain consistent communication with Study Smart Tutors staff.
Partner with Study Smart Tutor’s Education team to provide comprehensive learning strategies to all students.
Gather and navigate feedback from school administration and other program staff.
Update internal team members on program observations while on-site.
Join weekly project huddles involving multiple stakeholders contributing to programmatic efforts.
Join planning meetings with Lead ASM and other stakeholders.
