About The Position

Camp Counselors are responsible for the overall supervision of campers with the aim of providing a healthy, safe, and enjoyable camp environment and experience. A good Camp Counselor often has strong leadership and is creative in planning and implementing programs and activities for campers.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent
• First aid and CPR training and certification
• Previous experience as a counselor-in-training, teacher, childcare, or related field
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Encouraging to campers and patient when instructing
• Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable in a team-player role
• Creative and innovative thinker and planner
• Computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
• Strict adherence to camp philosophy, standards, and goals

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree, or two (2) years or more of full-time college coursework equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee camper activities.
• Guide and teach a range of outdoor activities (hiking, swimming, boating, etc.)
• Ensure camper safety and monitor their activities.
• Set up and ensure recreation equipment is secure and stored properly.
• Supervise campers during meals.
• Instruct campers in daily routines and cleanup tasks.
• Follow safety and emergency procedures and guidelines.
• Work one-on-one with campers
• Instruct and organize camper projects (arts and crafts, dramatics, etc.)
• May perform administrative tasks (filing, record keeping, etc.) as needed.
